No hands…
pz racing January 11th, 2007Well, I’m off to LA in the morning tomorrow to go and ride in circles on the velodrome. Hoping to ride fast enough to qualify to do a few track events with the national team this year. I’d really like to do some points racing and maybe a bit of pursuiting as well. Not sure if I have the high power to ride fast on the track but every time I’ve ridden the track I’ve had a blast. So have some fun at least. I’ve been riding the rollers on the track bike a bit, got the no handed riding down. A lot easier than it looks. Tomorrows 4km pursuit will be my first time riding this bike on the track and will be my first time riding the steep banking of the LA track. It’ll be an adventure if nothing else.
Training in Tucson has been going great the past few weeks, hitting Mt. Lemmon pretty hard and getting some good motorpacing in as well. Tucson in January is amazing, defintely the best place in the country to be.

Getting a little cocky eh - no handed roller action?
as if a pic with no shirt on wasn’t enough?
have a great time PZ -

Hey phil.
It was great to meet you at the airport the other morning. We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City last night after 17 hours of flying. This place is crazy, definitely going to be an adventure on the bike. Hope the track race treated you well.

Come along way Phil. Good luck on the track my Man. Stay off the duck boards and keep the seatpost clamp tight!

Riding that fixie in the snow must have given you killer skills… Now let’s see you pedal backwards no hands on the rollers…
Good luck on the track

I did rollers in college on my crit (note crash) bike and was so forward on the bike, every time I even touched the handlebars, Id veer off wildly and crash… so… I LEARNED to ride it first without hands. THEN I learned to put my hands on the bars. So… not sure what Im saying, and Im still wondering why its important for track riding.

What is even more disturbing about this pic is who in the “H” was taking the pic of you with no shirt on - no handed roller action -?
you were probably like - “okay dude take it now… oh man almost fell on that one.. no, now… aww that pic sucked…. okay take it… now.. yeah dude that is a sweet pic… yeah.. look at me…!”
