Finally returning to the land of the living. Zithromax is currently running rampant through my body, getting rid of all sorts of infections. My eyes have stopped gunking up and my sinuses are gradually drying out. Been able to get back out on the bike lately, throat is still pretty raspy and dry but manageable. It always feels so odd when you get back on the bike after a period of time off, I normally come close to crashing myself in the first few pedal strokes. The bike just doesn’t steer the way that I anticipate it will. Got out for some nice 1.5 hr spins in the hills. Aiming for a 4 hr mountain ride tomorrow. Ran across a mountain lion at the end of my ride today as I summited the dirt climb up to my place in the hills above Boulder. Looked over my shoulder for the remainder of the ride.

Still no riding for me, unbelievable amounts of gunk in my sinuses.  One of the main problems is that since my ears are all plugged up I’m not able to equalise pressure in my ears.  So, even a small change in altitude creates havoc.  Unpleasant to say the least.
I think I may make a marshmallow gun today to occupy myself.  I have had my fill of reading books and newspapers.  I am hooked on the HBO series, Six Feet Under.  Trying to limit myself to one disc per day.

I may be a bit behind the curve on this one but I just came across a great blonde joke.

Well, the pink eye is clearing up. Nothing like a little salt water and boric acid to clear up an infection in the eyes. Unfortunately my health is still taking a turn for the worse. Congestion has now firmly set up residence within my middle ear and sinuses. Everything kinda sounds like it does when you are under water, very distant. Haven’t had a real ride since Thursday now, got on the trainer and pedaled while watching the World Cup yesterday. Actually thought I was starting to feel better and was coming around, amazing what a little blood flow can do for you in the short term. About an hour after riding the congestion returned and my tonsils grew back to their enormously swollen size. Off to the doctor right now, see what we are dealing with here. Should be leaving for Cascade tonight, unless my health makes an abrupt about face though I don’t think that I’ll be boarding any planes. Very bummed, I’ve been targeting this race to be a big peak for me and after a 6th at Nez and 3rd at Fitchburg I was feeling as if I was on track to put in a very solid ride this week. Blah.

Awoke this morning and found that I couldn’t open my eyes.  Completely glued shut.  Stumbled to the bathroom with arms akimbo, running into walls.  Managed to unhinge my eyes after a lot of hot water soaking.  Some amazingly thick gunk can be produced by your tear ducts!  Nasty.  Off to the pharmacy now to see what I can round up to get this infection cleared up quickly.
World Cup today and I’m cheering for the wops.
